In late August, we traveled through Oregon and Washington (to see the Aug. 21 solar eclipse). We also took the opportunity, while awaiting the “official” world premiere of Chapters and Verses, to arrange a backyard screening of our film for family and a group of Ukrainian-Americans (including Iryna Kovalenko, a member of one of our favourite musical groups, Dakha Brakha).
The film was very well received – we are encouraged for our first large public showing in September.
Inco Triangle, Aug. 1992
We were recently sent a scanned copy of the August 1992 Inco Triangle, a monthly employee publication. We thought the photo and text below nicely captured some of Bill’s personality and character. (Click photo for larger image.)
If “Action Bill” doesn’t attend your party you know you’ve really blown it. But Bill Kuryliw was at Pensioner Days and in fine form as always. A retired welder from Frood-Stobie [Mine], the 82-year old is something of a legend around Sudbury. Everyone knows him and vice-versa. He loves being with people and can always get a laugh out of them. He’s been writing for the local Ukrainian paper “New Pathway” for years.
